Here are the facts: I'm female, 55 years old and ready to begin my first real diet. Oh, I tried Weight Watchers a couple of times for a couple of weeks, but honestly the portion control thing always defeated me. When I was younger-in fact until I was 50-I never really had a need to diet. I had been naturally thin all my life. I know. I was very, very lucky.
But menopause has arrived, we are empty nesters who love to eat out, and we have an active social life with lots of good times and wine. These things have added up and I need to learn a new way to eat and drink.
The Dukan Diet intrigues me because I love meat and eggs, and am not all that crazy about fruit. I like many vegetables, but a salad for lunch with low-fat dressing on the side has never done the trick to fill me up.
I think one of the hardest things for me will be to remember to drink enough liquids throughout the day.
Also, I like to eat more than one thing at a meal-so I have to try having meat with cottage cheese or yogurt. Or maybe meat rolled up with cream cheese?
I have read the Dukan Diet book and have made a list of things to buy. Can I really eat all the lean hamburgers I want? Can I really eat two cans of tuna if I am hungry? Can I really eat chicken livers for lunch? I keep reading my list and checking the book--not sure how many days I should attempt the Attack. Ideally, I'd love to lose 12-15 pounds, but I would be very happy with 10. I think I will try for 5 days. Today is Friday, I am going to shop with my list in hand on Sunday and HOPEFULLy, start on Monday.
I have a couple of friends who may be joining me in this venture--I hope so. It will be much easier to share it with someone.
If anybody is out there reading this-any comments or encouragement would be most welcome!
